Poliner v. Presbyterian - Peer Review Case Involving a Doctor Who Was Unfairly Targeted
"And I'll never forget throughout the course of the lawsuit -- because I was brought in just to try the case -- Dr. Poliner had lost so much weight that he had to hammer new holes in his belt buckle. And, because he was under so much stress. And I told him, I said, 'Dr. Poliner, good, bad, or indifferent, when this case is over, there's one thing I want, and that's your belt.' And when the jury came back and completely found for Dr. Poliner in a way in which we never thought was possible to the extent that they did it, I looked back and Dr. Poliner had tears streaming off his face and was pulling off his belt. And that belt is now in a frame, a box on my office wall. And it's very meaningful to me."
