Trinity Guardrail Accidents
Dallas Trial Attorneys Protecting Your Rights
Here's what you should know about the ET Plus guardrail produced and manufactured by Trinity Industries:
- Approximately 90% of all guardrails used on roadways in the United States are produced by Trinity Industries.
- To date, 44 states across the nation have banned the use of the Trinity ET Plus guardrail.
- As of this writing, Virginia is ordering removal of all Trinity ET Plus guardrails installed on its highways.
Just recently, researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Engineering conducted a study to find out more about the safety of this product. The results below should be very eye opening.
In 2014, researchers reported that—when compared with Trinity’s earlier ET 2000 product—the ET Plus was 2.86 times more likely to cause death and 1.36 times more likely to cause a serious injury.
These frightening statistics underscore a growing realization: the ET Plus guardrail is extremely dangerous and even deadly. Guardrails should absorb impact—bending to accommodate the weight and pressure of a vehicle slamming into it. The ET Plus doesn't function this way because of materials removed since its initial design.
