The Texas chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates (TEX-AOBTA) have chosen to award their coveted title of “Trial Lawyer of the Year” for the year 2008 to Charla Aldous, trial lawyer in Dallas and the founder of the Aldous \ Walker. This prestigious award is a major achievement and we are excited for all this distinction means for Ms. Aldous’ career, for our firm, and for our clients.
The board of directors for TEX-ABOTA chooses the annual candidate for the Trial Lawyer of the Year title based on peer recommendations from the various chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates located throughout the state of Teas. Ms. Aldous was chosen based on these nominations from her peers.
ABOTA has chapters nationwide consisting of trial attorneys and judges. There are approximately 93 chapters, which a presence in every state, and over 6,300 members. TEX-ABOTA consists of 13 chapters with over 1,000 members.
Response to the Decision
Dick Grigg, the president of TEX-ABOTA, said: “Charla is the epitome of those whom we seek to honor with the ‘Trial Lawyer of the Year’ award. Her courtroom record is enviable, and she has unselfishly shared her leadership skills through public service to the legal profession and her community.”
For her part, Ms. Aldous—who is the current president of the ABOTA chapter in Dallas—said of receiving the award: ““My primary focus is to make sure my clients receive justice, and that also serves as one of ABOTA’s key missions,” says Aldous. “Texas is home to many great trial lawyers, and it is a tremendous honor to receive this award from an outstanding organization.”
Ms. Aldous will be given her award at the annual meeting of the Texas chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates, to take place in Bastrop, Texas at Lost Pines Resort on October 25, 2008.
Meet Attorney Charla Aldous
For close to 25 years, Ms. Aldous has represented clients in cases throughout the Dallas / Fort Worth area, with more than 100 trials under her belt. She has helped her clients recover hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements. Her work has earned her numerous accolades, including an invitation to join the prestigious and exclusive Inner Circle of Advocates, which contains 100 of the top plaintiff lawyers in the nation.
She has also been featured as the cover story of a 2004 copy of Texas Super Lawyers® magazine and named as one of the top 10 winning lawyers in America by The National Law Journal. She was named one of the top five personal injury attorneys in Texas by Texas Lawyer newspaper and included repeatedly in the list of “Best Lawyers in Dallas” published by D Magazine. In addition, Lawyers Weekly has twice featured her work has being among the nation’s Top 10 Verdicts.
Ms. Aldous received her J.D. at Southern Methodist University School of Law after completing her undergraduate education at Austin College in Sherman, from which she is considered a distinguished alumnus. She is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice and a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
